Mission West and the Global Cooperative Community Celebrate the International Day of Cooperatives on July 1
Each year cooperatives around the world take the first Saturday in July to celebrate the International Day of Cooperatives. The International Day of Cooperatives, or Coops Day, has now been celebrated by cooperators worldwide for over a century.
This year, cooperatives are uniting by using the slogan “Cooperatives for Sustainable Development,” emphasizing how cooperative businesses around the world are hardwired to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Inspired by their shared values and the cooperative principles, coops in Montana and globally are taking action and doing business in their communities a way that advances these goals.
The aim of #CoopsDay is to increase awareness of the cooperative movement, by underscoring the contributions of cooperatives to resolve the major problems and development goals identified by the United Nation in the SDGs.
The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) invites cooperators across the globe to celebrate Coops Day by showing the power of cooperation in action. Cooperators that wish to participate can use the handy 2023 #CoopsDay action pack which includes a logo, key messages, and other digital resources on the CoopsDay website. Cooperatives can also join in on social media by using the #coops4sdgs campaign.
