handMADE Montana
A formerly empty space on Main Street in downtown Polson is now filled with artwork, handcrafted products, and clothing made from upcycled materials. Mission West worked with Carol Lapotka, owner of handMADE Montana, providing her with business consulting through our staff and our expert network. Areas of assistance included analysis of location options, development of a business plan, human resources, store layout, inventory management, payroll, marketing, storefront improvement, and access to capital.
The business, which opened its doors in July of 2019, serves as a retail space and workspace where customers can watch clothing being made and see the craftsmanship that goes in to every product in the store. In addition to the products made in the workshop, handMADE Montana carries handcrafted clothing, home décor and gift items made by dozens of local artists.
