About the Facility

Infrastructure Built for Rural Food Businesses

The Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center was built on the premise that access to professional food processing infrastructure shouldn't require a million-dollar investment. Our 13,000 square-foot shared-use facility gives food businesses in rural western Montana access to the equipment, certifications, and technical expertise they need to produce, process, and scale their products.

Whether you're a farmer looking to add value to your harvest, a specialty food producer ready to move beyond the home kitchen, or an established food business needing extra capacity, the MMFEC is built for you.

Facility use is reserved through the Food Corridor platform, which handles scheduling, payment, and compliance documentation in one place.

What We Offer

Beyond physical space, our team provides the technical support food businesses need to succeed.

Product & Market Testing

Test and develop new products using our certified facility before committing to full-scale production. Get feedback on process, yield, and shelf-life in a professional environment.

Food Safety Training & Certifications

Access formal food safety training programs to meet regulatory requirements with confidence. Programs offered include:

  • Concept to Consumer
  • Better Process Control School
  • Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)

Labeling & Packaging Development

Get guidance on FDA-compliant labeling, nutrition facts panels, ingredient declarations, and packaging that meets retail and institutional buyer requirements.

Farm-to-Institution Processing

We support producers looking to supply schools, hospitals, restaurants, and other institutional buyers with the processing capacity and food safety documentation those markets require.

Organic Certification Guidance

Our facility is certified organic. We can help food businesses navigate the USDA organic certification process and understand what maintaining organic status requires.

Food Science Technical Assistance

Access expert consultation on processing methods, formulation, water activity, pH management, and other technical aspects of producing a safe, consistent food product.

Co-Packing

Established clients may arrange co-packing services, our team processes and packages your product on your behalf. Available on a negotiated basis; contact us to discuss your project.

Seven Production Spaces

Our 13,000 sq ft facility includes seven specialized activity areas, each equipped for a different stage of food production.

Dry Fill Dry mixes, spices, flour products, and other shelf-stable dry goods.
Meat Processing Two smokers, Vemag stuffing equipment. USDA Meat Inspected.
Labeling & Packaging Automated labeling and packing equipment for retail-ready products.
Harvest & Wash Choppers, dicers, and cherry pitting equipment for fresh produce processing.
Small Kettles & Convection Oven Small-batch cooking and large-scale baking. Ideal for sauces, soups, and baked goods.
Large Steam Kettles Large-batch production with double piston filler for high-volume processing runs.
Commercial & Retail Kitchen Licensed for retail food preparation. Available for separate rental. Open 24/7 for key-access clients; staffed 8am–4:30pm.

How to Use
the Facility

Kitchen time is scheduled through the Food Corridor platform, our online system for scheduling, payment, and compliance tracking.

Become a Client

New users must complete our client application before booking. All clients must hold a current food manufacturing license and carry a minimum of $2,000,000 in general liability insurance. A facility orientation is required before your first session.

Book Through Food Corridor

Once approved, log into the Food Corridor platform to view available kitchen time, select your space and equipment needs, and reserve your session. Payment is processed through the platform.

03

Come Prepared

Arrive with your ingredients, required certifications, and a completed production log. Our facility team is available for questions and support during your production session.
