It started with two people and a simple want: a dependable place for musicians to get together and play. Not a bar with a one-night slot, but a reliable, year-round space owned by the people who use it.
Mission West helped the founding members turn that idea into a democratic, member-owned cooperative, the kind of organization where every member has a vote and a part to play.
Today the co-op runs a fully equipped stage in Ronan that members can reserve seven days a week, with a full PA, amps, and instruments on hand. Weekly open mic and open jam sessions are open to everyone, and members and local experts lead classes and workshops. Membership runs $25 a month, or $15 for musicians 18 and under.
What the co-op offers is not really studio time. It is a place to belong, to practice, perform, and learn, kept running by the musicians who show up for it.
